I'm Julia Casabona, a French multidisciplinary Visual Artist and storyteller known for my work in art direction, filmmaking, and editing.

My journey began in set design, collaborating with renowned venues including the Maxim Gorki Theater (Berlin, DE) and the Dramaten National Theater of Sweden.

Today, I work as a freelance Art Director, Author Filmmaker-Cinematographer, and Video Editor, specializing in performing arts and music industry.

I also collaborate with what I call “brands à part” :

those combining incredible products and powerful messages relevant in today’s conversations, striking for powerful storytelling and striking visuals.

While trends catch my eye, my passion lies in purposeful originality, departing from the mundane.

I believe in a singular and consistent artistic vision. Individuality, mistakes, mauvais goût and distorted classicism, underdogs, fairytales, analog aesthetic, grunge, confusion, layering principle both visually and dramaturgically.

I am fascinated by contemporary art, surrealism, archetypes, dreams, esoterism, Nick Cave and Kathy Acker.

These influences have shaped my artistic identity and are reflected in both my conceptual and technical approach to creative direction, filmmaking, video editing and even work on narrative spaces.

I often proclaim that "fiction grants permission"! After all, we all seek refuge in stories, granting ourselves the liberty to step into the limelight.

My approach is interdisciplinary story telling :

From concept writing, set design, styling, shooting and editing. From art installations, branding identity, to short movies.

I regularly collaborate with artists and collectives from the Berlin free scene: for them, I articulate visual and narrative concepts, mixing disciplines to enhance their dramaturgy and identity.

I am based in Berlin (DE), work globally.
